Disclaimer

One of our guiding principles is strive to be wrong. That might sound silly at first, but here’s what it means, copied and pasted from our mission statement:

“We work tirelessly to ensure our content is the most well-researched evidence-backed opinion on a topic available in any format. But if there’s any ideal we embrace more than being right, it’s being wrong. We recognize that only through being proven wrong do we learn new ideas. We understand that even the best concrete research can be usurped by new facts, and that a technique that works for one person may not for another.”

Seriously, we get it that you understand this site is for informational purposes only, and you should always seek the advice of a professional. But, we wanted to make the difference between our website and professional help crystal clear.

Here are some of the main differences between this website and a licensed health practitioner:

  1. Personal Attention. We write for the internet, which means we create recommendations and ideas based on the majority of people. But you might be in the minority, or even an extreme outlier, so our advice might not work for you. A doctor can figure out where you are on the scale and prescribe the appropriate treatment.
  2. Accountability. The government requires health practitioners to be licensed and chefs to adhere to strict sanitary practices. That’s because if they fail to meet the standard, their patients and customers can hold them accountable in court. Even if we doled out truly atrocious advice or recipes, it’d be pretty tough for a reader to sue us in court and show we were liable. That means we simply aren’t held to the same standard as a licensed practitioner, though we do strive to maintain high standards anyway.
  3. Resources. We are a small team of young people interested in creating content that improves our own lives and the lives of people like us. Other people in this industry might have access to labs, technology, and staff that we never will, so we simply can’t compete with some of the services offered at places like hospitals, clinics, and restaurants.

So those are the main reasons you should take whatever we publish with a grain of salt. With that out of the way, here’s the legalese, in case you’re into that kind of stuff:
